Pentagon Tour | How to Get Tickets, Timings

The Pentagon is situated in Arlington, Virginia, across the Potomac River from downtown Washington, DC, and just to the south of Arlington National Cemetery. The Pentagon serves as the Department of Defense of the United States' administrative centre. During World War II, it was built on an accelerated schedule.

To take the Pentagon tour you must request for tickets 14 to 90 days prior. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, tours are only available for U.S citizens. The tour is totally free of cost. The entire tour is 60 minutes long. In order to submit your reservation request, you must include the full number of people, requested date and start time, person name and mobile number.

If you have a Pentagon badge and you know someone who works there, you can go on a self-guided tour with them. The Metro (the subway system in Washington, DC) is the best way to get to the Pentagon. Both the blue and yellow lines of the DC Metro are placed at the Pentagon Metro Station. First of all you have to apply for a smartrip card. You can order online or you can take it from the station. They will charge 10 USD for a smartrip card. Where 8 USD will be credited in your card and 2 USD as card charges. You may view the cost to go to any station in the system at each vending machine. At the Pentagon Visitor Center, the security check-in for Pentagon Tours is right by the Metro station exit. The security checkpoint outside the Pentagon Metro entrance is where all tours start and end. The guards are quite helpful in guiding you to find the correct entrance.

To allow for the entire group to get through security you have to present 60 minutes prior.

Eligibility for entry:-

You must be 18 years old. And you have to carry the following documents.

  • U.S Passport

  • Driving Licence

  • ID card issued by Federal, State or local government agency

  • DOD Affiliated Identification Cards

  • U.S. Government PIV Card

  • Native American Tribal Document

  • U.S. Border Crossing Card

  • Permanent Resident Card.

Large bags or suitcases are not allowed. Sharp objects or weapons are not allowed. Photography is strictly prohibited in the building. Only cell phones are allowed.

Pentagon Visitor Center

You have to wait for the tour at the Pentagon visitor center. Once the tour is over, tourists are not allowed to return to the visitors centre, so this would be the perfect time to stop by the gift shop and facilities. Food is not permitted during the tour. No one can eat a meal during the tour. You can arrange for Pentagon employees to accompany you to a location where your group can eat before or after the tour and escort you there.

All tours will include information on the four branches of the military's history and noteworthy facts (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps). Along with the crash site, you might also get the chance to visit the 9/11 Memorial Chapel and the indoor September 11th memorial. Some trips also include a tour at the Hall of Heroes, which features a real Medal of Honor medallion as well as a list of all Medal of Honor recipients. There are no stops on the trip, and it almost constantly moves at a walking rate. We recommend that, after your tour, you circle the building and follow the signs to the National September 11th Pentagon Memorial to see this sobering location before you leave the premises. From the Pentagon Metro station, where you will leave the building following the tour, the memorial, which remembers the 184 victims who perished in the Pentagon or on American Airlines Flight 77, is about 15 minutes on foot away.

Advice:-

Always keep in mind that photography is strictly prohibited. If anyone breaks the rules, legal action or penalties will be taken.
